Lake Tahoe Rentals – The 7 Secrets You Need to Know Before You Go
Lake Tahoe: the Hidden Secrets from Rentals to Activities
Family travelers, coming from all parts of California, make Lake Tahoe rentals their vacation homes during all seasons of the year. Family time couldn’t be spent in a better vacation hot spot with the wide variety of activities available in Lake Tahoe. The locals know all of the hidden secrets of the area, and there are many. After locking down your Lake Tahoe rental for an extended stay in one of the hundreds of cabins around the enormous lake, get ready for some fun.
A little bit of planning will go a long way to enjoying your stay. A Google or Yahoo! search for activities in Tahoe will provide an extended list that short-term travelers will not be able to conquer on a three-night getaway. However, after spending many of my younger years on both the North and South shores of the lake, there are some regular finds that most travelers overlook. Here are a few local favorite hidden secret activities, hot spots and yummy food stops that may have you calling in sick to extend your Lake Tahoe rental (skip over all the advertisements found in your internet search):
SECRET 1: search ‘Reserve Tahoe Rentals’ for deals on Lake Tahoe rentals around the entire lake. Book your accommodations as far in advance as possible for the best deals. However, if you have the flexibility to wait until the last minute you may end up with the deal that can’t be beat. SECRET 2: locate ‘highway 431’ on Google Maps. Driving from Lake Tahoe to Reno, about seven minutes up the mountain toward Mt. Rose on the left you will find a hidden sledding hill that is free of charge. Simply park on the side of the road (be careful of moving traffic) and let the kids do the rest. You must bring your own sled or saucer. SECRET 3: search ‘Northstar-at-Tahoe’ for a great resort that offers family skiing, ice skating, roller skating and cross country trails for the more adventurous vacationer. This pristine location offers an all-in-one for a day’s worth of family fun. SECRET 4: search for ‘Sand Harbor’ located on the North East corner of the lake and park either in one of the pay=to-park lots or on the side of the road for free. Families enjoy all beaches in this area because of the shallow depth of the lake and beautiful sandy beaches. SECRET 5: search for the ‘Log Cabin, The Old Post Office and GarWoods Grill’ on Lake Tahoe’s North shore. And on the South shore check out Cafe Fiore, The Cork & More and the smaller restaurants within the Heavenly Valley outdoor mall. The best hidden secret for a night out with the wife has to be the Chart House located on the South shore. Most travelers are unaware of this restaurant and its location. A simple search of Lake Tahoe Chart House will send you in the right direction. SECRET 6: search ‘Lake Tahoe Snowmobile Tours’ for a great getaway into the Lake Tahoe Mountains for some scenic views of the Lake. If you are into off road 4-wheeling, check out the hills off highway 267 just outside of Kings Beach on the North shore. SECRET 7: search ‘Lake Tahoe Chamber’ and ‘South Lake Tahoe Chamber’ and click on visitor information and then lodging. Here you will find deals posted by local businesses around the lake. Many deals on Tahoe activities are offered right there. This secret will keep a bunch of money in your pocket for numerous other activities during your vacation.
Lake Tahoe is an outdoor adventure for all activity enthusiasts and finding the right Tahoe vacation rental is the most important first step. Consider the nightly rates, number of bedrooms, amenities, and overall quality of homes suitable for your family vacation. Knowing the general location with the estimated distances from the secret hot spots near restaurants, ski resorts and other major attractions in Lake Tahoe will help to secure more local activities during your visit.
Availability is another important consideration. Lakefront and ski in / ski out properties are in high demand. Rental properties up the hill in the mountains, overlooking the lake shores or in a nice forested setting, are less in demand but still fill up during the holidays.
Lake Tahoe rentals offer space and versatility that cannot be matched by any local hotel in the area. Putting together a plan of activities and lodging is the absolute best secret to a fun-filled family vacation in Tahoe. Use your computer search wisely and you will end up in the hot spots alongside the local residents
Booking Lake Tahoe rentals at http://www.reservemyhome.com who offers 300+ Lake Tahoe rentals, cabins, chalets and condos on all shores of Lake Tahoe my be a great option for you to consider.
Getting Classic Cars at an Auction
Time determines the essence of all things.
Timelessness is a virtue that is greatly venerated from time immemorial. The same thing goes for cars. Classic cars are greatly appreciated wherever they may be. This is why many people are going crazy dreaming about getting one of their own classic cars. One of the best ways of getting quality classic cars is at an auction.
Classic cars are seen in different ways by different people. Some people see classic cars as investments, since timeless pieces such as classic cars appreciate in value especially if it is well maintained. Some people see classic cars as time machines which take them back to the good-old-days when these cars ruled the streets of the cities.
Whatever the motivation people may have in buying classic cars, one thing is certain classic cars are great things to have.
Getting classic cars at auctions is one of the cheapest and most efficient ways of getting your dream classic cars. Auctions are not for the weak-hearted, especially classic car auctions.
There are a few things that one has to take into heart when going to these classic car auctions, and this article tries to give wonderful tips about the subject.
Nature of Classic Car Auctions
First of all, let us look at how auctions are held for classic cars. Classic car auctions are held at a relatively moderate pace if you compare it with regular car auctions.
In regular car auctions, there are hundreds or even thousands of cars that are being exchanged during a single event. Since there are not too many classic cars out there in the market, there aren’t too many classic cars at auctions either.
So the auctioneer takes a more delicate approach in auctioning these cars off.
Some classic car auctioneers employ the English way of auctioning. This is perhaps the most popular form of auctioning where people try to outbid each other for a certain piece. The highest bidder will win.
This is the complete opposite of a Dutch auction where the auctioneer starts from a high price and goes lower and lower, the first person who is willing to take the price wins the bidding. The Dutch method is not usually employed in classic car auctions so try not to strategize based on this.
For the more rare classic cars, perhaps a sealed-first-price kind of auction is employed. Bidders make their bids secretly and write them down and seal them in envelopes, the highest bidder wins.
Strategy
Knowing the basics of how classic car auctions will give one a comparative advantage over the other bidders on how to properly get his dream classic car at a relatively good price. Getting into auctions is like playing a game, a mind game that is.
To properly go through a classic car auction and to successfully purchase a dream classic car in such an event, one needs to take the following tips below seriously.
1) Know your dream car
Classic car auctions are usually held in fall. So make sure that you do proper research before the said time of the year.
The auctions are usually publicly announced through official announcements in newspapers and through advertising mechanisms that the auctioneer employs. Getting your hands into their forms and list of cars is one of the must-do things. With the list on hand, one can do research about the cars.
The Internet is a great way of looking at the different qualities and features of each car together with the advantages and disadvantages. A blue book is also necessary for appraising the value of the car.
2) Price, price, price
At the end of the day, the true measure of one’s success in participating in auctions is not only in terms of bringing something home, but buying something at a price that he is willing to pay that is substantially lower than the existing market price.
Once one has finished doing research regarding his dream classic car, he should set a realistic price (that he can afford, obviously) and stick with it. If another outbids you, perhaps it is just not worth it.
3) Enjoy the show
Not everyone will bring home a classic car in every classic car auction. Therefore, one should enjoy the whole scenario and meet lots of people. It is always a great learning experience and perhaps the lessons can be employed for the next auction.
A classic car is always timeless. Auctions are one of the best ways to get these babies home at lowered prices. Go now and build that dream of yours and strategize!

Holden Special Vehicles has recently introduced its WM Grange, which is a luxury performance limo that comes with specification and power unmatched in Australia. The WM Grange represents an important investment by HSV and is packed with a range of unique features that makes it distinct from its domestic and imported competitors.
The new Managing Director of HSV Scott said that the launch of the all new Grange would provide the company with fresh sales drive that would shaped up a record year. According to Scott, “This car will truly build on the outstanding sales success HSV has enjoyed over the last eight months, since launching the E-series. April was the company’s eighth record month of sales consecutively, with 475 retail deliveries.”
The first four months of 2007 has recorded deliveries of 1,685, which is almost double that of the 2006 and is definitely way ahead of equivalent figures for 2005.
WM Grange has retained all of the luxury equipment, features, and accessories even its custom auto floor mats were maintained. The limo has everything that customers would expect from the top of the range HSV such as dual screen rear DVD player, tri-zone electronic climate control, parking assist and many more. Also incorporated in the limo is the performance characteristic that makes HSV distinct from all others.
Chief Engineer John Clark supervised the program that transformed the car to one powerful package. John Clark said, “We focused on enhancing this car, to improve drivability. Individually calibrated Magnetic Ride Control, an LS2 V8 307kW engine, a premium HSV four piston brake package and tailored Electronic Stability Control system, make WM Grange one of our best cars to wear the Lion and Helmet badge.”
Chief Designer Julian Quincey was responsible for giving the car its distinctive yet subtle HSV design features. He said, “With Grange, we wanted to offer a car that would be defined as an Australian `performance and luxury flagship’, without any suggestion of overstating its massive capability. The car has all the sporting grace of the critically acclaimed Senator Signature with even greater presence. Unique exterior touches include front fascia, grille, discreet rear spoiler and rear lower appliqué, while the interior boasts our exclusive steering wheel and instrumentation. The interior is available in both black and light urban, with an ambience to match the very best of the Europeans.”
The HSV WM Grange is priced at $82,990, which represents more than an 8 percent reduction on the out-going model. The limo is available in HSV dealerships across Australia and will be sold in New Zealand next month.
